The PEOPLE program lets AFSCME members shape public policy and legislation through four activities:
1. Registering AFSCME members to vote
2. Educating members on the issues
3. Educating members on candidates' records
4. Lobbying elected officials

PEOPLE stands for Public Employees Organized to Promote Legislative Equality. As public service workers, we know what a difference it makes to elect leaders who have our backs — who vote for our values and priorities.

The PEOPLE program is the political arm of our union. We work to elect candidates who support working people. As a group, we evaluate candidates' qualifications and records to decide whether they're the right fit, then endorse and help elect them by working on their campaigns. Through your voluntary contributions, the PEOPLE program also supports candidates financially.
